5 Popular Make Up blunders Made by Women and their corrections
Esther’s day at Spicy Looks Creations Studio
I spent a day at the Spicy Look Creations (SLC) studio and they
did this good thing to me. I’ve always
known I would be a beautiful bride! Lol.
Busola of SLC is glad to discuss with us the 5 common make up blunders
women make. Please take note of these blunders, stop making them (and guys note
them and tell your woman or simply refer her to this blog *winkz*) and let’s
know more about Spicy Look Creations and what they have to offer.
Cheers.
*Drum Roll*
Blunder 1: The use of the
powder: Too white or off color
Your powder should go with your skin tone. The purpose of makeup is simply to enhance you
and not change you so much that people can’t tell it’s you after getting your
makeup done. You should test before
buying to see what soothes your complexion.
Know your skin tone and find the right shade for you. You
can ask for help at the cosmetics store.
Blunder 2: Eye Brows: Wrong
color or drawn like ‘ojuju calabar’
Our eyebrows are a very important feature of the face. They
are the first attraction to the face. When they are properly or badly done, they
will not go unnoticed. They therefore need to be done correctly.
Do not shave your eyebrow completely nor ever go out with a
completely shaved eyebrow.
It is wrong to use a black eye pencil or red eye pencil
since your eye brows are naturally not these colors. Do not draw out on your eye brow section like
you would a fine art assignment but trace out your eye brow line.
Corrections: When shaping your eyebrows, follow the way your
hair grows so you get your natural shape, which of course is what would best soothe
your face.
Use the right eye brow pencil color. The eyebrow is not exactly black but brownish in
color so a brown pencil is most appropriate.
Get the shade (of brown) that’s closest to your eye brow color.
Blunder 3: Blush: Too much;
doll baby look
Blushes are used to give a lift to the face. They give you a cheerful and smiley look. The
blush should not be lavishly put on the face. It should not be so obvious. It should be more like a hint of color on
your face.
Your blush should come from the edge of your hair through your
ear and should stop on your cheek bones. The blush should not get into your face. Always apply sideways allowing it to fade into
your hair.
Blunder 4: Eye Shadow: Your
eye is not a canvass
The eye shadow helps to define the shape of your eyes. It is
also meant to give color to your eyes.
Eye shadow should not be applied all over your eyes all the
way to your brow bones. Your eye shadow should really not go beyond your
crease.
Blunder 5: The Eye lashes:
Falling off or winchy like
Eye lashes should sit well on the eyelid and not look like
they are about to fall off. Eye lashes should look as natural as possible. They should not be unnecessarily long and spiky.
You should be comfortable wearing them with
little or no irritation. If you are not able to fix your eyelashes properly,
you should visit a professional to help you fix them correctly and also show
you how to.
Esther: If I may ask, could you please differentiate between
the terms ‘Make up’ and ‘Make Over’. I
ask because I see a lot of Make Up artist claim they do Make Over also.
Busola/SLC: Makeup essentially has to do with the
enhancement of the facial appearance while makeover is the total enhancement of
the body from head to toe. Today, due to exposure, a lot a of makeup artiste
are now into makeover. Nevertheless, makeover has to do with a total change of
the body.
Esther: Please give a final advice for makeup users:
Busola/SLC: Make Up should be tested before use. Whether you
are buying for personal use or you are using the service of a makeup artiste.
This is very essential especially when you are using for a special occasion
like your wedding or other major outing.
You should test make up before buying, or buying the service of a makeup
artiste, like you would test shoes or clothes before buying them. You will both
be able to derive ahead what soothes you and what you are comfortable in.
The Entrepreneur: Olubusola Adedayo
I am a Makeup artiste, Image management consultant and the Creative
director of Spicy Look Creations, a beauty outfit.
I studied ‘Guidance and Counseling’ at Olabisi Onabanjo
University Ago.
I have always been passionate about looking good but never thought
it would become a career for me. I have always
shown interest in beauty ever since my secondary school days. I learnt to make hair then and in my university
days, people would always admire and commend my dressing. They would ask me to
help them with their makeup, gele, hair and all. After series of trainings and skill
acquisition, SPICYLOOKS CREATIONS was born in November 2013 with the passion to
re-create beautiful people in the society.
At SLC, our service goes beyond helping people look beautiful
on the outside but also be beautiful from the inside. We are about total
enhancement i.e beauty without and beauty
within and this is our niche as an organization. At SLC we care about our clients. For us, it’s not just about the monetary
aspects of what we do; we see it a privilege to be a part of our customer’s
life. That is, being involved in the process of their external (and internal) enhancement.
SLC is also very much involved in empowerment trainings. On
our trainings, we take our students through every aspect of running a makeup
career and business. We teach beyond the makeup skills, also helping them build
their interpersonal skills. Our desire is not just to help our students settle
in the business but to stay in the business. Also, we organize free training programs for
young girls in rural communities. Please view our facebook page, www.facebook.com/spicylookcreations for more.
