BRANDish: KCNG So Far...
Remember KCNG? We
featured him here sometime last year, click here to see.
KCNG is a very modern
fashion brand owned by Kingsley Nwosu. The
KCNG brand has been quite busy after it's brand showcase here. KCNG has walked the run way of the Abuja International
Fashion Week 2015, and the Kenya Worldwide Fashion Week 2015 which held in Nairobi.
After which, the man behind this vibrant
brand, Kingsley Nwosu, was presented the ‘Best Fashion Designer of the year:
Male Category’ award at the Peace Achievers Awards 2015 where artists like Oritsefemi,
Kiss Daniel, John Fashanu, MC Shakara, Alex Ukubo, Mr Nigeria 2014 were also
awarded.
Kingsley Nwosu /KCNG
featured alongside twelve other fashion designers at The Kenya Worldwide
Fashion Week and he was amongst the 6 designers who were set apart to feature
in Couture Africa Magazine, the biggest magazine in Sub-Sahara Africa.
Find pictures from these fashion events in the next post. Meanwhile, I had a brief chat I had with Kingsley.
Esther/ED: What is Peace
Awards About?
Kingsley Nwosu/KCNG:
Peace Awards is about promoting brands and people who have contributed positively
in various industries. The organizers are also the organizers of ‘Miss Peace
Ambassador’ Beauty Pageant. Every year,
the Peace Awards event is held alongside the ‘Miss Peace Ambassador’ pageant. This
year’s award ceremony held in Abuja.
Esther/ED: How did
you connect with the organizers of Peace Awards?
Kingsley Nwosu/KCNG:
The organizers had come for the Abuja Fashion Show which I was a part of and
saw some of my works. They also followed
up with my works and participation at the Kenya Fashion Show. They asked for
some of my collections and inquired about who I have worked with.
Esther/ED: How does
it feel now that you are being recognized?
Kingsley/KCNG: I
feel honored and I feel blessed. This has exposed me to the world and made me realize
that the brand KCNG is a brand for the rest of the world. I was the only Nigerian featured at the Kenya
Fashion show. It was a worldwide event as it featured fashion designers from
UK, France, Uganda, Denmark, USA among others,
I got an interview
with a publication called ‘African Journal’, affiliated to CNN. After the event, I was also featured on Couture
Africa Magazine, which is the biggest in Sub-Sahara Africa. The next edition
will be out in November and my works will be featured on this edition.
Esther/ED: So what’s
next for KCNG?
Kingsley Nwosu/KCNG:
We are looking to move the brand to another level. We are looking to push the
brand beyond Nigeria and also have our own fashion show to present our new
collections. After these events, I was
at Dubai in search for business prospects to check the market to see how that
could happen
Esther/ED: So this
means your charge has increased abi?
Kingsley Nwosu/KCNG:
(Laughs). You know the brand value of KCNG has increased tremendously with the
recent activities and connections it’s has made.
Esther/ED: Is KCNG
only for celebrity and people in media?
Kingsley Nwosu/KCNG:
KCNG is not just for celebrities but for anyone that loves to look good.
Whoever you are, whether you are in the corporate world or public service, KCNG
is for you.
