The Beamaz Business Empowerment and Training Academy (BBETA) is designed to promote entrepreneurship development, self employment, wealth creation and financial freedom.

BBETA is targeted at business owners and people with skills. It is for entrepreneurial development and packaging.  A lot of people just start businesses without getting basic knowledge of running it.   The lack of this knowledge is what keeps people on the same level for a very long time. This training is for people who have their own businesses or are about to start something. It is also for people who have a skill or hobby.  This program will help them package their skill or hobby into a money making venture.

We touch areas like Legal, Sales and Marketing, HR, Finance, and Business plan development and execution.  For those who are yet to start their business, we help them get apprenticeship opportunities; we fix them in a place where they can get firsthand experience in their field of interest.

BBETA offers the business owner all they will need from a consultant at the beginning of the business.  BBETA students have access to free consultancy and discounts on other programs Beamaz runs. We also help in the monitoring the application of their business plan.

The Beamaz Empowerment and Training Academy (BETA) is a Workplace readiness program that has been structured and packaged to help individuals develop employability skills and competencies.

The Need
A participant on the hot seat:  Mock interview session

Employability training has been on my mind ever since I was in paid employment and I used to be involved with recruitment exercises. You see people come in with great grades but when they open their mouth to express themselves its really bad.  People don’t prepare well for interviews. They come in having no prior knowledge of the company they are applying into since they’ve done no research.  They lack emotional intelligence and they don’t think outside the box.  For example you ask the question ‘why they want to work for you’ and they say ‘Because I am looking for a job’ or ‘so I can get money to take care of myself’. Yet, they leave the venue thinking they’ve had a good interview.

A person seeking employment in an organization should learn about the company, the position they are applying for and think of how they contribute towards the development of the organization. They should take care of the simple things.

This is the reason most people keep going from one interview to another for a long time and yet not securing a job.  Meanwhile, they have to compete with young fresh graduates.  Frankly speaking, an employer would rather employ a graduate who is young and fresh from school.  The earlier they get the rudiments of employability right, the better for them.

The BETA Solution

Participants of the July BETA program
This is how we came up with BETA. To help people understand the basic tenets of looking for a job and what getting a job is all about.  At the end of the day, it’s not just about getting a job because there is a difference between ‘work’ and ‘job’.  If you are relieved from your job in a company, you don’t have to keep looking for a ‘job’.  At BETA, we let trainees know what it means to work.    We help people realize the place of vision, career, and personality. We aid them in finding their own place that they have been created for.

My ‘Job’ and My ‘Work’

Joke Aderibigbe of Beamaz Consulting
I did banking for a while and then I left to do consulting because that was what I had a passion for.  I remember when I got my first pay check after my month at the consulting firm; I couldn’t believe the figure on it.  I had to go meet the accountant who later explained some accounting jargons to me.  Then I began to think and wonder if I had made the right decision or go back to where I was coming from.  But I was already fully persuaded because that was where I wanted to be.  I thought If go back, I would be earning more money but my mind would not be at rest.  I also remember my first few days at work, at 5:30pm people began to shut down their systems and pack their bags to leave and I was wondering what was going on.  They said it was closing time.   I had to leave at 5:30pm since the office had closed and I got home at 6:30pm.  I kept feeling awkward because I had never gotten home that early.  Even my family was shocked to see me, thinking something had happened.

This is when I realized there is a ‘life’ and there is a ‘living’. It is possible to job all your life and not find fulfillment and at the end of the day the money you get, you keep giving to doctors since you can’t eat or keep well.  The whole world collects your money- siblings, insurance, extended family members, and material.

I have lived both lives and I understand how it is. So the earlier you realize this, the better.

Let your focus not be on the money. Once you find that purpose, the money will come. There is nothing like being in the place you should be.  So prepare yourself for work and not just looking for a job.   This is the core of our BETA employability training program. We help package you for work and not just a job.

The BETA program has aspects like career planning, goal setting, visioning, emotional intelligence, communication skills, working on a team work, personal branding and a few more.

BETA is about life enhancement and workplace readiness; helping people get ready for work and not just a job.

Esther: I saw something on your profile. It says you categorize your kind of consulting as a business transformational one, could you shed more light on this?

Adejoke/BEAMAZ: Yes! That’s what we stand for. Our name ‘Beamaz’ mean that when we come into your business or your life we beam our light. We don’t leave you the same way you were. 'Beam' is synonymous with light. That is why our slogan is ‘Nurturing businesses, touching lives’.  We nurture, transform and touch you and your business. We never leave you the way you same.
