5 Common Style Blunders and Their Corrections
1. The
Abuse of Human hair
It is extremely
tacky and bush to wear a human hair that is so long that it gets to your bum. The right thing is for your hair to look natural.
If you want to go for human hair and you want it to get to your back, you can
do 14inches, 16 inches but going as far as 22inches and beyond makes you look
fake
2. Eko for Show
It is trashy to
dress up with your body parts exposed e. g your butt crack or bust. Show little
and leave the rest to people’s imagination. You don’t have to show so much
skin. You can be covered up and look very sexy. Not everyone is Rihanna, you
may not get away with it. You have to know your body type; you can’t follow
every trend out there. For example, the crop top is not for everyone. The crop top
is not for persons who are chubby and with big belly. The crop top suits very slim
persons better. Even at that, you don’t
have to expose the whole of your belly.
3. Leggings and the Camel Toe saga
It is sad when you wear a short top on a pair
of leggings and then you have a awful camel toe showing. Not cool at all. If you wear a pair of leggings and you have a
massive camel toe showing, wear a long top.
4. Panty Lines
If you are wearing
a tight dress, wear a string pant or garbage pant. These type of panties have
no hem lines so it covers up.
5. CON-victed
Do not wear body
con dresses if you have cellulite. Body con dresses are not for everybody. When
you wear these dresses and they are very tight, they show off all the contours
on your butts and legs.
6. No be by force
Don’t wear heels
if you can’t carry it. You don’t have to carry 6 inches if you can only do 2
inches. Find heels that fit you and that you can carry. When you wear heels you
are not comfortable with, you mess up you are wearing
Foundational Dressing Tips
Be comfortable.
This is the foundation for dressing. Be comfortable first
with yourself before you begin to explore. If you dress and you don’t look
comfortable in what you are wearing, then you are not properly dressed. Before you walk out the door, make sure you
are comfortable
Keep it simple.
Too much of everything doesn’t always turn out well. Less is
more.
If you notice, wealthy people keep it simple when
they dress, yet they look striking and lovely. You don’t have to carry (or wear) all designer
and looking overdressed. It’s about
keeping it simple and carrying yourself with class. Know your body type and
dress your body.
Beauty starts from within
Take care of your within. Beauty starts from your inside. When
we style, we want to help you be yourself so that your person exudes and show
in your dressing. Like we always advice,
start from within. Take care of yourself.
What you eat matters. Exercise matters.
Dress your body
Don’t be a size 14 trying hard to fit into a size 12 dress.
Carry the dress; do not let the dress carry you. Do not try to be someone else,
be you. Dress your persona and not somebody else’s. For example Toby and I are
partners but we have totally different styles.
Style Tips from Mozel
Colors
Have basic colors in your wardrobe like black, white, nude,
and red for special occasions. When you have these colors, you can begin to mix
and match. Also, in trying to create your style, you have to consider your occupation.
This doesn’t mean you should be boring. Prep yourself up while you go with the
dress code. For example if you work in a bank, you can be creative with your
dressing. Dress up your persona
Make up
Make your make up as minimal as possible. Then when you go
for parties, you can go all out with your make up.
There is the day look and there is the night look. You shouldn’t wear heavy make up during the day.
During the day, your make up should be simple. If you are doing a lot to your eye,
keep your lip simple and if you are doing a loud lip, keep the eye simple.
Hair Style
Know the shape of your face. Play with your hair. Look at
what works for you and what doesn’t work. Don’t just go try what you saw on someone
else. Do hair styles that work with your
face
Always ask your hairdresser if a hairdo will go with your
face before you go on with it.
Esther: A lot of people think styling is a very
big deal like it’s for celebrities only. Do you style individuals too? How do you work?
Mozel Apparel (Tobi and
Lola): We believe the
way you are dressed is the way you are addressed. You need to give the right impression
of who you are before you speak. Styling is not for celebs only but for
everybody. You can get a stylist on a
budget. You can also work with what you have. We have different packages under
our styling service. They include: Wardrobe management, Personal shopping and A
Day complete makeover. You can also have
an ongoing contract with us, which would last for an agreed period of time.
You might need to de-clutter your wardrobe. By the way, if
you’ve not worn a cloth in a year, throw it out. You will never wear it again.
If you have an occasion, say a big event and you want to
look special, we could work with you. We could advise, design and make
something for you.

I have a background in personnel management. I went to a
fashion school and represented my school, Ruthia Style School at the Tex World
Apparel sourcing, in Paris. My design/dress
was well received. I have a Basic
Intermediary Certificate in
fashion designing. I perceive myself as a social entrepreneur because I look
forward to creating an enabling environment via what I do.
Lola Ajijola
Lola of Mozel |
I am married and I have a beautiful daughter. I am so happy
to be a mom. I studied Economics but I have always been a very handy
person. At a very early age, I would make
jewelry for myself and embellish my clothes. I would cut them off and do stuff
with them and people will admire them. After
school, I started designing for fun. I was making fabric jewelry for sale. I went to fashion school briefly.
When Tobi and I met, we really connected as friends first. We
totally agreed on what fashion is, what it should be, and how we can work
together. And that’s how Mozel was born.
We
always complement each other and that’s what makes this team work.
We are passionate about change. Have you ever seen a bag
with collars? Well, that’s Mozel. We take something basic and add the Mozel
factor to it.
